Privacy Policy

Ask Earl is a private space to work on your relationship. What you share here is personal, and we treat it that way. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account details: your email address and a securely stored password.

What you share: why you came, your answers to our questions, your partner's first name if you give it, how long you've been together, journal entries, conversations, the plans we write for you, and how they went.

App activity: your check-in streak, which exercises you've done, and basic technical information needed to run the app (like device type and error logs).

Before you create an account, what you share is stored only on your device, except for the text sent to our AI provider to write your plan.

How we use it

Only to run Ask Earl for you: to write plans and reflections that fit your situation, remember what has and hasn't worked, keep your streak, and provide support. We do not use what you share for advertising, and we never sell your data.

AI processing

Ask Earl uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, to write plans, reflections, and replies. To do that, the relevant text you've shared (and context like your partner's first name and your recent journal entries) is sent to Anthropic. Anthropic processes it to generate a response and does not use it to train its models. We ask for your permission before anything is sent.

Who else is involved

We use a small number of service providers, each only for what they do for us:
Supabase, to store your account and data securely.
Anthropic, to generate AI responses.
Apple and RevenueCat, to handle subscriptions. We never see your payment card details.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect someone's safety.

Your partner

Your partner never sees anything you write in Ask Earl unless you choose to share it yourself, for example by sending your streak.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account and everything you've shared from our systems. Information on your device is removed when you delete the account or the app.

Your choices

You can delete your account and all your data at any time in Settings. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it. Email us at hello@askearl.app.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and stored with access controls so only your account can read it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect what you share.

Age

Ask Earl is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll tell you in the app before the change applies.
